Air Spring Banner Systems for Lighting Columns Meet EN40 Legislation
We’ve just added a new product to our street banners range, which meets the government EN40 legislation for testing wind loads when using advertising banners on street light columns. The air spring banner system has been developed to reduce the wind loading on a light column, caused by the installation of the banners.
The poles that fit into the aluminium brackets are made from fibreglass and also feature steel springs, to help with the movement in strong winds. This helps the system to flex with strong winds causing the wind load on the lamp post to reduce. Large full colour horizontal banners can be added to the systems, with graphics printed to both sides. Used by council for advertising events or promoting awareness throughout the community.
The system can also be used by businesses who want a sturdy and secure system, to use on lamp posts situated in business grounds. Kits include 2 fiberglass arms, aluminium brackets, steel springs, 6 banding straps to secure to the post and 1 printed banner.
The air spring banner system was put on test at a facility where wind speeds were recreated to push the system to its limits. With wind speeds recorded up to 90 mph the reduction in loading on the lighting column at this speed was 87.98%.
Using a banner with a total area of 3.08 sq metres the Air Spring effectively reduced the wind load area to 0.4sq.m. When this is applied to a single banner installation of 1.54sq.m (760mm x 2030mm) conformity to EN40 is achieved by reducing the wind load area to 0.2sq.m (EN40 stipulates that a standard lighting column must be capable of taking the maximum wind loading exerted by a standard rigid road sign of 0.3sq.m).
This product is usually produced in large quantities for councils looking to spread these across their boroughs to create awareness for a particular event. There’s no limit to the volume we can produce at Portfolio Display, so we welcome enquiries of all sizes.
